Astrum is a
flat pack polypropylene mood lamp. Constructed from two separate pieces of sheet
polypropylene, the first piece forms the outer structure of the lamp while the
second piece supports the bulb and fitting.
Astrum is
designed to pack flat and is easily assembled once acquired. The user simply clips
together the four press studs at each corner of the lamp with the bulb fitting
in place to transform the flat sheet into a rigid three dimensional structure.
The lamps
emit an overall soft coloured glow, while angular details of light escape from
the bottom of the shade casting distinct shadows in a pattern directly around
its base. The lamp takes its name; Astrum, from the Latin word for starburst which
reflects the lamp’s form and patterns of emitted light.
